| | | Petty Behavior. Zero Productivity. All In A Day's Work.|Petty Behavior. Zero Productivity. All in a Day's Work. Features: DVD, Widescreen, Aspect Ratio 1.78:1, Dolby Digital (2.0), Dolby Digital Stereo, Outtakes, Deleted Scenes, Spanish Subtitled Based on the hit BBC series. A remake of the hit 2001 BBC TV series The Office (2001), this is a mockumentary that documents the exploits of a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Made up of head chief Michael Scott (Steve Carell), a harmlessly deluded and ignorantly insensitive boss who cares about the welfare of his employees while trying to put his own spin on company policy. With an office including various peers who have their own hangups, The Office (2005) takes a look at the lives of its co-workers: bored but talented salesman Jim (John Krasinski), his mildly sociopathic, butt-kissing enemy Dwight (Rainn Wilson), mildly righteous receptionist Pam (Jenna Fischer), and indifferent temp Ryan (BJ Novak). "Painfully funny!" Boston Globe "...highly entertaining...my favorite show currently playing on network television." Brendan Babish, DVD Verdict "Smart, biting 9-to-5 satire." Entertainment Weekly "...a terrific comedy full of laugh-out loud moments." William David Lee, DVD Town "...extremely funny...the cast is perfect in their roles, delivering in each and every scene..." Francis Rizzo, III, DVD Talk "Priceless moments...daring, unflinching..." James Poniewozik, Time "The most brilliant send-up of cubicle hell since Office Space." Maxim
Editor's Note
Based on the popular British comedy of the same name, THE OFFICE takes place in and around the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Using the same mockumentary style as the original, the series succeeds in capturing the quiet desperation of the poor souls working in this socially stifling environment under the direction of delusional boss, regional manager Michael Scott. Comic actor Steve Carell beautifully inhabits the role, playing a man so eager to be liked, he completely alienates people with one stupid antic after another. Blindly believing himself beloved by his employees for his laid-back nature, Michael fails to see that, with the exception of nerdy and bizarre Dwight (Rainn Wilson), he is resented and despised by all. Meanwhile, Jim woos engaged receptionist Pam, while both navigate the office politics and "humor" of boss Scott. Carell perfectly walks the line between despicable and pathetic, enlisting his audience's sympathies just moments before doing or saying something horribly inappropriate. THE OFFICE may be a remake, but it has charms of its very own.
